The cockpit
A light aircraft's panel with the six round flight instruments, the tachometer and the engine gauges, and a yoke. The instruments are drawn live as you fly, and what you move moves in the cockpit too, from the yoke to the pedals.
How it flies
The Cessna 172 flies with JSBSim, the open-source flight dynamics of FlightGear, running FlightGear's own files for this aircraft, compiled to WebAssembly so it runs in your browser. On top, the controls answer like a game: each stick asks for a rate of turn, and when you let go the aircraft stays where you left it, nose, bank and heading.
In the simple scheme a coach tells you each step, from the takeoff flaps to the flare, and calls the rotation at 55 kt.
Where to fly it
The Cessna 172 flies free from Hong Kong International, with no account and no time limit. Any other airport can be unlocked by itself, or all of them with All Access.
Some airports with a page of their own:
What it costs
Nothing. The Cessna 172 at Hong Kong is the free part of Open Flight World: the whole simulator, with no account, no time limit and nothing to install.

Questions about the Cessna 172
Is the Cessna 172 free?
Yes. It is the free aircraft: fly it at Hong Kong International for as long as you like, with no account and nothing to install.
What speeds does the simulator use for the Cessna 172?
The hangar gives it a cruise of 122 kt at 6,000 ft and an approach speed of 62 kt, and the coach calls the rotation at 55 kt.
Does the Cessna 172 fly with real flight dynamics?
Yes: JSBSim, the flight dynamics of FlightGear, with FlightGear's own files for it. The controls answer like a game on top of it, so a first flight is easy.
